The ancient Oaks of Keddleston Park in the North Midlands of England

 Within the damp and clinging earth,
Where darkness spans a world Unseen.
An acorn dreamed; and dreaming saw
Blue skies and forest Green.

Ella Maxwell Haddox.

Then sing for the Oaktree the
Monarch of the wood;
Sing for the oak tree,
that groweth green and good;
That groweth broad and branching
within the forest shade;
That groweth now and yet shall grow,
When we are lowly laid.

Mary Howit.
